McCafes

So... I had a good laugh when my fellow bloggers posted their Starbucks horror stories. You know, the stories where one suffers in line as the tremendously stupid/arrogant/rude/self-absorbed/all-of-the-above person takes an ice-age to order a coffee. Hahahahaha HAH, it was all very funny when it was happening to someone else!

So... Today I was standing in line for a dose of pre-exam (aka post all-nighter) grease-bombs, and to my horror I hear something like this: "I'll have a double mocha meltdown, triple expresso, quadruple shot of hazelnut, vanilla, cappuccino. On ice, but still piping hot. With no creamer, because its all artificial and stuff, and I drive a hybrid SUV. It gets 15 miles to the gallon instead of 6. I'm so totally green."

At first I thought I was suffering from post-all-nighter-fatigue. (I'm not as young as I used to be) Then blearily I peered around. I saw a sign that said McCafe, and a whole row of coffee fixins, and the bleach blond bimbo who ordered it. No this couldn't be a dream. If it was one of my dreams it wouldn't have been a McCafe, but something crazy like a McDope which vended McMeth(amphetamines) now brewed with Genuine NyQuil Brand Cough Syrup. And there wouldn't have been a bleach blond, I only dream about redheads (well a particular redhead that is). So this definitely wasn't a dream. The next thought to cross my mind was.....

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME!?!?!?!

I decided to stick it out. Yes, I know its stupid to pay for lard laden food that will give me cancer, obesity, high blood pressure, prostate pulsations, colon clusters and ED. I know it is even more obscenely stupid to stand in line behind a Bleach-Blond-Bimbo ordering Coffee like she is Sarah Jessica Parker from Sex In The City.

"It can't get any worse than this," I tell myself, "the worst is over, she's ordered and soon I'll have my dollar-menu hash-browns and biscuits and I'll be out of here." But the worst wasn't over. Not even close.

Bleach-Blond-Bimbo: "So, did I get it right? Isn't that, like, totally, Sarah Jessica Parker's favorite coffee in Sex In The City?"

Underpaid Cashier: "Uh... I guess it depends on the season."

BBB: *smacks forehead* "DUH, I totally forgot. I totally meant season five."

UC: "Uh... I think you got it mostly right, but I don't think piping hot coffee can be on the rocks. Uh... I think you got the winter version and the summer version mixed up."

BBB: *looks confused, the confusion so thick you can see it through the back of a huge hair-sprayed coif of hair* "errr... I can't remember, stop making me think so hard, like my head feels like it will literally (said lit-really) explode."

UC: *looks worried that her head really will explode and the stupid will rub off* "Uh... so that will be one Season Five. Uh... Cold or Hot?"

BBB: "I think I want a season Three now."

UC: "Uh.... a black, triple raspberry, crushed ice, triple creamer, hold the coffee?"

BBB: "Yah..."

UC: *Looking worried again* "Uh... we don't sell McFlurries during breakfast."

BBB: "Like OMG!!!!!! Whats WRONG WITH YOU GIVE ME MY COFFEE!"

UC: *Positively terrified now* "Uh.... howabout a season 4?"

BBB: "A vanilla, expresso, with a double shot of cashier saliva, poured over the grindings, shaken not stirred?"

UC: "Uh... That's the one."

BBB: "Oooh, sounds good, that might be my new favorite."

UC: "Uh... that will be $15.34"

....

I finally got my hash-browns, but what I want to know is, Who's confounded idea was it to make a McDonald's into a Starbucks? That's the last time I hit a McDonald's before 7:00 AM, at least until the over-complicated-over-priced-coffee craze is over, or until my next all-nighter.

Shoes

Shoes are in danger.Remember how we have* to juggle our shoes every-time we get on a plane? (off then on, then off again cause the guard wasn't paying attention, then on, then off one more time cause they didn't get a good look for the first two times) That was the suck. I like shoes. Especially when it is cold, or when the sidewalk is hot. Bending over trying to take them off whilst juggling luggage and 2 computer bags wasn't fun either. And it was all down to one idiot terrorist and his shoe bomb.

Why then are the idiots of the world conspiring against us shoe wearing people again? Taking heart from the Idiot-Iraqi-Wingtip-Lobbing-Wanker a British protester pitched his oxford at the Chinese Premier. Pretty soon people are going to be chucking their shoes at singers and athletes. It is a disturbing trend.

If idiots keep this up I can see shoes being banned from all public gathering places. Imagine going to the ball park and having to take off your shoes! Although the sticky soda and beer soaked bleachers would be unpleasant in bare feet or socks, I shudder at the mere idea of attempting to use a public male restroom w/o that quarter inch of rubber protecting my feet from those of poor aim, and I don't want to hold it through triple overtime.

So do us all a favor. Keep your shoes on people! If, by chance, you see someone about to toss their moldy shoe at someone. Take a split second to think of the horror of using a public restroom without the benefit of shoes, or of sitting enjoying a concert in socks as the slob behind you spills his coke and it forms a river between your toes, when that time comes you'll know what to do. Block their arm, punch them in their nose, taser them if you have to. Do NOT allow idiots to throw their shoes, even if you detest the intended target. The hallowed practice of donning footwear supersedes any political agenda or social statement. Help me protect it.

This has been a sushiboy-public-service-announcement.
*(edit: tense change. Nobody asked the question if we still have to take them off in the airport. There is new technology that can scan shoes without removing them. But we still have to take off shoes, for now...)

BS

So I'm watching the President of Iran spew his hate filled rants. The man needs to be stopped. Build your fallout shelters now, if he has his way they will get some use. After he pushes through his nuclear programs he's promised to share them with the rest of the countries that hate us. Great idea.

Our policies concerning the Mid-East haven't always been the best, but keeping genocidal dictators from developing nuclear capability is a great policy. A nation with oil coming out of its ears doesn't need nuclear energy to provide electricty to its subjects. It doesn't need Nuclear power to become an industrialized modern country. This man wants nuclear capabilities only to kill. To kill Jews (or as he calls them zionists), Europeans and Americans.

Jerks

Christian Protestors Heckle Hindu Chaplain
These protestors are jerks. Protesting like this is not 'witnessing', it is acting about as un-Christian as it is possible to act. Jesus was the Prince of Peace, such hate filled people as these don't deserve the title of Christians. This Hindu minister wasn't preaching or trying to force his religion on others, he was simply praying to God in his way, as he was invited to do. I can't beleive these people would interrupt him and heckle him for this. Jerks.

To Do No Harm

Does anyone else find irony in the latest terrorist wrinkle? Medical Doctors planning attacks to blow up scores of innocent Londoners. Story Here.

Primum non nocere; First, do no harm. This phrase is the motto of doctors and other medical practitioners worldwide. An oath to never intentionally harm anyone (and to avoid unintentional harm as well). I believe these allegations -- but as yet they are unproven, so I haven't totally made up my mind -- , and the complete dishonor of these actions gall me. Westerners are honorless pigs, infidels, is what we here from the extreme Islamic propaganda. Terrorists, take a look in the mirror; you are the honorless, the oath breakers, the child killers, the infidels.

So have you heard of a story where a man buys his wife a power tool for her birthday? Well I haven't done that. Superwoman's birthday is coming up so I thought it would be fun to have a big bash for her and to serve one of her favorite dishes Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches. OK thats a good idea right? Yes, but my execution sucks. Yesterday the kids were umm... brats, and the house was a mess and the party is coming up tomorrow. So I went to bed early (its been a long couple of weeks at work) without even thinking about what needed to be done by the July 4th/Birthday Party. Who stayed up all night worrying about it and cleaning? Superwoman. Who feels like a big fat jerk today? SushiBoy (and with good reason). So no, I didn't buy my wife a power tool for her birthday, I just made here clean up for her own party. I suck. To do no harm? That was my intention, but I caused it anyway.

Reprove SusiBoy and those pesky terrorists in the comments. They both deserve it.

Save Net Radio pt. 2

I wrote earlier how the RIAA was trying to impose HEAVY fees and royalties on Internet radio stations. These pretty much amount to sanctions to drive a particular sector of of the market. Its just wrong. Being a fan of Internet radio, it torqued me off a little too.

Due to an enormous response, Senators Ron Wyden and Sam Brownback have sponsored the Internet Radio Equality Act. This would limit the royalty rates imposed on Internet Radio to similar rates that other broadcast formats pay; Killing RIAA's attempt to force anything 'Internet' and 'music' into bankruptcy.

If you agree with Internet Radio paying similar rates as other broadcast formats you can write to your senators and ask them to co-sponsor the bill. Go here to get your senators' contact info.

I realize I've posted 2 rants in 2 days. I apologize, I generally try to keep things lower key. It just happens that two things that I care about are going on at the same time. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

I love you too Al

“As for the one Mormon running for office, those that really believe in God will defeat him anyway, so don’t worry about that, that’s a temporary situation.” -Al Sharpton

Just who does Mr. Sharpton think he is? After demanding that, the bigot, Don Imus apologize and step down (and rightfully so), how can Reverend Al even begin to feel justified in making a comment like this? At least Don Imus had the brains to apologize for his jackass comments. Not so with Al Sharpton.
In a statement, Sharpton accused the Romney campaign of a “blatant effort to fabricate a controversy to help their lagging campaign” and argued that it was Hitchens who criticized Mormons. - As reported by Mike Glover of the AP
Wow, Mitt Romney didn't need to say anything to fabricate controversy. Al Sharpton can create controversy all on his own. Just look at all the controversy Al drummed up over over Don Imus. But if someone says, "Al maybe you shouldn't of said that, you insinuated that I don't really believe in God.", he accuses the speaker of political posturing. What a jerk.

“In no way did I attack Mormons or the Mormon Church when I responded that other believers, not atheists, would vote against Mr. Romney for purely political reasons...” -Al Sharpton

Only he didn't say "other believers", he said "those that really believe in God"; insinuating that members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints don't really believe in God. Reading his initial quote it seems obvious (to me at least) how he feels about the LDS Faith.

“What I said was that we would defeat him, meaning as a Republican. A Mormon, by definition, believes in God. They don't believe in God the way I do, but by definition, they believe in God." -Al Sharpton

Wow, I'm glad that I beleive in God, if only by definition, according to Sharpton. That really softens the blow. Its also comforting to know that all true believers are Democrats. I'm glad to see the issue is so clear cut, so black and white. So even though I believe in God, by definition from my Mormon faith, I'm still not a true believer because I see issues more conservatively than he does.

So I dislike Al Sharpton, but not in the way Al Sharpton dislikes me. I dislike him as a man because he doesn't have the courtesy or guts to apologize for directly insulting me and most of the people I know. Al Sharpton dislikes me because I belong to a group of people that sees the world differently than he does. By definition, Al Sharpton, you are a bigot.

Mets sweep!

The Mets beat the dodgers tonight, 9-5, to sweep the series. Payback for 1988! Yes, I did watch that series, I was only eleven and I've held a dodger grudge ever since. So the Mets will move on and go for the pennant and hopefully the World Series. I just hope their pitching will be up to the challenge (with no Pedro and no El Duque). Go Amazings!

Go Mets

The Mets just beat the Dodgers 4-1 to take a 2-0 lead in the NLDS! The series now moves to LA. Too bad I'm short on vacation, or I would try to go down and catch a game.

YouTube 2

Hooray! YouTube listened to their fans and improved the horrible interface they introduced less than a week ago. Thx for listening to your fans YouTube!

YouTube

Have you seen the new YouTube interface?

I don't like it. The bigger buttons are ok, I guess. But the red progress bar is ugly. It clashes horribly with my blue and cream blog. The old interface didn't clash with hardly anything. It fit into loud obnoxious templates as well as the more subdued ones. I've checked around my favorite blogs and the YouTube interface just ends up looking out of place. Yuck! Change it back, or let us choose the progress bar color by giving us multiple interfaces to choose from.

OUTRAGE!

As posted on DadGuy's blog, this is outrageous!

My blood is boiling in anger right now. Anger can be good because it promotes action. The nice thing about America, is that you can make your opinions known. Thats what I plan on doing.

  1. I'm writing and calling Debra Kanof to let her know what an IDIOT she is. That is some serious mixed up morality she has going on there. You can find her contact information here.

  2. I'm writing to the White House to request pardons for these good men (they have already been convicted, they have a sentencing hearing on Tuesday.) To actually request a pardon from the US Department of Justice (who then arrange and send the requests to the White House) you must be the Accused, or representing the Accused. So I guess the only thing that we can do is write to W and request that he be proactive in granting clemency to these men.

R&R makes me tense

So I've mentioned I think Rachael Ray has about ten shows too many over on the Food Network. I don't hate her, but I'm sick of seeing her. Obviously I'm not the only one, as this hardly scientific poll shows us. (at the time I took it she was ahead with 25% of the vote)

Word is she has a talk show that will be airing this fall. Hopefully this will put a big enough hit on her schedule that she'll have to drop about 5 of her Food Network shows. But, knowing her, she'll drink about 6 more pots of coffee a day, and add another show there too. :P I'm so sick of her. I've got an idea, howaboutz the Food Network puts a few shows about cooking during primetime? Instead travelling and shopping with the-over-caffinated-gidget-lady.

Heather wins Hell's Kitchen

Heather won Hell's Kitchen. Heather deserved it.

Congrats Heather! If I could afford it I would eat at your restaurant! If you cut out the ciggys you could have a palette as nice as Virginia's.

In the end it was the leadership that she displayed that won her the competition. (IMHO) She picked the people I would have picked if I were in her shoes. I also think all her experience as a line and a sous chef earned her the people/leadership skills in kitchen. Well it was a good show, I am exited for the next season.

But thats all old news now, I got to go cause now I'm recording Good Eats.

Hell's Kitchen

I love cooking shows, especially competition shows. (although if I see one more sugar showpiece on the Food Network I'm going to throw up)

Anyway I'm about 3/4 of an hour into the finale. Virginia just won the challenge, I hope she wins it all. I don't care much for Heather. I love the show, I hate the profanity, but it must be a good show to make me actually turn the TV to one of the networks (away from my precious cable) during primetime. Although if Rachael Ray gets herself yet another show on the Food Network it may happen more often. I don't need anymore dumb travel tips. (Yuck-O)

Another post coming when I know who wins.

Edit - 1 hour through the show. Its not looking good for Virginia she picked the exact wrong team and then she isn't managing it well. She definately shouldn't have picked Kieth (but she didn't have the benifit of seeing all of the things Keith said to slam on her during the closed room interviews) Keith is going to work against her pretty much no matter what she does. I hate to admit it, but the way she was trying handle the team was less than motivating. I wouldn't be motivated if I was on her team :(.
