National Geographic Article of the Month: November 2010

Like my dad did, I have a subscription to the National Geographic Magazine. Unlike my father, I usually don't get around to reading it cover to cover each month.

I really like the NG and I find most every piece that appears in it interesting. I just don't feel like I have the free time to justify reading it in full. I usually end up reading only one or two articles, and just skimming the rest of the magazine.

Since a blog is all about sharing; I am going to share the article from each issue (if I get around to it) that I thought was interesting enough to merit a closer read.

Soooo.... Here goes.

November 2010: Japan's Ocean Wilderness

What it's about: Awesome Japanese Marine Wildlife.

Length Very Short.

Style of Text: Succinct overview of the photography project with poetic undercurrents (undercurrents haha).

Photographs: Absolutely amazing.

What I liked: Beautiful Photography. Probably one of my favorite subject matters. Did I mention the photos?

What I did not like: A little too short.

You can check the entire article and photos by following the link to the National Geographic Website.

I concur, a little too short, but the photography is wonderful.
Maybe I will return to scuba diving some day...

That blue fish one the first page of the article is ... spectacularly beautiful. It's so beautiful it almost doesn't look real.

Thanks, Sushiboy. My uncle used to get National Geographic and I'd read it each time I'd visit him. Once he was gone, my connection to NG died with him. Thanks for sharing!

SP- you used to scuba? Cool. I've always wanted to do scuba but never have had the time or money to get trained and certified.

Zed- I agree few of the photos look too pristine to be real. I love the picture of the luminescent jellyfish it looks so surreal.

Right about now looks like a new issue of National Geographic should be coming out, Sushiboy. No?

Still nothing??? Sigh.

No pressure, no pressure. :)

Sigh... I know :(... I have a hard time justifying the time for a post. Maybe I should take half the time I spend lurking and chip away at a post.

But we all RELY on Sushiboy to lurk and comment. Oh sure, just go ahead and BREAK the Internet, destroying the lives of millions.

(Did the guilt work?)
