Pardon my ignorance, but what is an EMO? Electronically motivated operator?

In my opinion Emos are a bunch of teenagers like the goth's of yesteryear who have(or think they have) rough lives and think no one understands them. Mostly I think they are depressed because their poems suck, and so do their haircuts, clothes, music etc. LOL, J/Kidding.
I really don't have anything against the emos but I think it is funny that the purposely set themselves well outside of mainstream and then complain that "no one understands us". Duh!
Emo's have been stereotyped as suicidal (and I'm sure some of them are) and prone to cutting their wrists to show how emotional they are. A few Emo's ride the bus with me. They remind me a lot of the goths I went to High School with. Not bad people, but most seem to be screwing up the rest of their lives with drugs. (Just like a lot of the Goths did).
That is limit of my knowledge about them.
