I am the most stubborn person you may ever meet.

The last few weeks have been INSANE! A bunch of things at work were coming due, a bunch of things at work were coming due. As you can see by my post a few weeks ago I felt completely overwhelmed. But I kept at it, and I'm surprised at how well things have turned out. The test I was so worried about I got a 98% on. I didn't think I would be able to write the minimum 10 pages I needed for a paper. I ended up with 16 pages. I had another test today (after a last week where I barely got any studying done for it) and got another good score. I also was able to get all the work stuff done to boot. Sometimes I wonder if a college degree isn't measuring my ability so much as my stubbornness, because that is all that got me through the last few weeks.

On a side note. The (step) contest at work ends tomorrow at midnight. Right now I'm leading by around 30,000 steps. So hopefully that means I'll win. I might put in some time on the treadmill over the next couple of days just to make sure. I've only taken 7205 steps for today.

In other news I got inducted to an collegiate honor society Phi Kappa Phi. They wanted 50 bux to join. I figured what the heck and I joined up. Today I got an invitation from another honor society Phi Theta Kappa. They want 80 bux. I may have been a sucker to join the first, I'm not sure I'm going to join the second. The 'requirements' to join aren't as strict and they want more money. I'm beginning to think these things are a racket to see how little street-smarts the book-smart students have. Any advice? I'm leaning towards -not- joining the second society.

I got an invite for Phi Theta Kappa when I first started...at a COMMUNITY COLLEGE. That should tell you enough right there.

You are not THE MOST stubborn person I will ever meet. I am dating the most stubborn man IN THE WHOLE WORLD. But what you are is tenacious. Persistent. Persevering. Tough.

I'm glad you made it through.

ML- It tells me your smart, which we already knew :). Yah I think the requirements were, complete 12 credits or more with a GPA of 3.5 of any year of college in any field of study at pretty much any institution. The other one was a little more picky about who it invited.

HG - Well I said that "you may ever meet". :) Thanks for the compliments. If only one of those is true I'll be doing ok!

Wow, you're doing awesome!! Sometimes all we have to do is really challenge ourselves, and that's when we rise to the occasion. Keep up the great work, but don't forget to breathe, take a break once in awhile, enjoy your family and laugh.

I think stubbornness is a family trait. I've learned that it is very exhausting. I have modified it to determined and now that I'm retired it's now "I don't care!"

Congratulations on a great job WELL DONE! I am very proud of you.

I lean towards the racket thing. Keep your money. We know you're smart. Congrats on getting though that rough spot.

BTW - I had little patience with assignments that required a certain number of pages. I was always tempted to tuen in my paper with the required number of pages but just one word on each page.

Frats and Sors are a waste of time and money. They DON'T help your resume, so don't bite.

Hang in there...the semester is almost over!

Are you taking the summer off?

I am taking half the summer off. Guess it's better than nothing. I never was tempted to rush a frat. Just wasn't ever my scene. But I'm beginning to think the Honor Society scene is just as worthless (if a little more sober :) )
