Book List

Is anyone an avid novel reader out there? I've added my 2007 book list to my sidebar. It contains everything I have read this year and everything I am reading now. This is a simple journal of my reading, not a recommendation list. A recommendation list would be a great post. Maybe I will post one soon.

What are you reading right now?

What is the best book you have read recently? (and why)

I'm an avid reader but I haven't been reading much lately. Usually when my brain is so occupied with other stuff I find it hard to concentrate.

I hope it comes back soon. I have a few books to read:

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series

The Memory Keeper's Daughter

Empire Falls

Mortified (Anne Altman's suggestion)

On Writing by Stepen King is the best book I have read recently. A great autobiography/guide which explains King's background and his approach to writing. Good stuff for any aspiring writer (or King fan).

While I'm not usually a King reader, (he's a little too explicit in most of his books) I really enjoyed this one. (It does contain some language that may be objectionable) I enjoyed it so much that I picked up The Green Mile.

Teri- I really enjoyed the Empire Falls miniseries. The book is on my list of things to read.

I would like to read the Green Mile. I always like to read a book after seeing a movie to see how it differs.

I have recently read Running with Scissors... completely twisted-- read it after I saw the movie. The book puts some great twists and turns which are absent from the movie. But anyone who has lived through that mess just CANNOT come out of it even semi-normal... I would venture to guess the guy is completely tweaked now.

Another book that I have read recently is Wicked... which was cool after I saw the Broadway musical. It was great, the political undercurrent was amazing!

I recently bought Son of a Witch, the sequel to Wicked... we'll see if it lives up to the first!

Teri,
I loved the sisterhood of the traveling pants, not heavy duty reading but a great coming of age story.

I've read 5? No 6 books in the last two weeks. They're entertaining and easy to break out of I suppose when I need to. The problem is I devour them so quickly that I tend to go on short spurts every 6 months or so.

4 have been by the same author (Raymond E Feist) and the other two are "The Pelican Brief" and "The Runaway Jury".

Please do post a recommendation list, it'd be intereting to see.

Many of John Grisham's books are worth reading!

Another author, who is more medically inclined, but twisted thinking nonetheless is Robin Cook.

Quick no-brain reading, but it's truly twisted stuff

About 8 years ago I read everything Grisham had out in a period of about 3 months. Those were some great stories (although they are starting to blend together). My favorite is his first, A Time to Kill. He's put out a number books since then, so I need to have another Grisham session.

I've never heard of Robin Cook. Which is a good book to start with?

I started with a hand-me-down novel from a former coworker at the hospital

"Harmful Intent"

However, you may be familiar with "Outbreak" and "Coma" as they were turned into made for TV Movies

Here is more info on Robin Cook and his books

Robin Cook

Now, if you go reading one of these, please remember that I said it was no-brainer but twisted reading
