So I've been gaining weight over the past year. In between 30 and 40 pounds. I'm not so concerned about the weight as I am the upward trend. As long time readers may also know, I also play a game called World of Warcraft.
If I can do it cheaply I would like to rig up my exercise bike like this treadmill. Not to lose weight, but halt this sudden upsurge in pounds and to redistribute the weight I have gained over the past year from my belly area to my arms and legs. Wish me luck.

You thought I would laugh at this??? I think it's great. We could probably find you a treadmill on the classifieds for cheap. Um yeah, at least you would be accomplishing something while you were playing WOW. Ok, I laughed a little but really, only a little.
I tried something similar with an exercise bike. Unfortunately I found I would slow down when the game got interesting, I guess you could just set the treadmill at a constant speed so you COULDN'T slow down.
Join the club - 30 pounds in the last 3 years!
If you figure out how I can get myself out of my chair and 4 or 5 steps over the the treadmill, exercise bike, and cardio glide - let me know :)
I think a lot of people, men and women, would like a treadmill like that. Let me know how your typing speed compares to your walking speed.

If you could attach a generator and invertor that powered your monitor, then you would have to keep pedalling.
Pedaling really really fast to generate that much juice. Doable if it was just a laptop, adding a CRT monitor adds a lot of watts. So if I kept it just as laptop it might work. But the generator would put me way over budget.
